Recently, we reached a major milestone here at ApartmentRatings when we passed one million apartment reviews. We decided to take a look a some of the data to find out some trends in apartment living this year. Instead of just releasing the numbers, we thought we should ride the infographic trend and display the info a little more colorfully.

Alaska, Vermont and Arkansas top ApartmentRatings.com list of states with most satisfied renters

Analysis of 1 million reviews also reveals top and bottom cities for safety, parking, and pet-friendliness

LOS ANGELES (October 21, 2010) – ApartmentRatings.com, the leading website for user reviews of apartments around the United States, today released comprehensive 2010 data resulting from an analysis of the site’s 1 million reviews. ApartmentRatings hit the 1 million-review mark this month.

Among the highlights from the data:

  • Alaska, Vermont and Arkansas had the most satisfied renters state-wide overall, while Wyoming, Maine and North Dakota ended up at the bottom of the list.
  • Corpus Christi (Texas), Cleveland and Milwaukee were deemed the safest cities in which to rent, while Memphis (Tenn.), Virginia Beach (Va.) and North Las Vegas (Nev.) were seen as the least safe.
  • Henderson (Nev.), Chula Vista (Calif.) and Chesapeake (Va.) were reported to be the most pet friendly, with Garland (Texas), Fresno (Calif.) and Lincoln (Neb.) coming in as least pet-friendly.

This data and more, including best and worst cities for parking, is compiled into an infographic above. The graphic also breaks out which cities had the most and least satisfied renters (in addition to the states mentioned above).

Apartment ratings has more than one million user-submitted ratings for over 50,000 apartment properties in more than  4000 cities and towns across the United States.  Scores were tabulated from these ratings.

In addition to overall satisfaction, users on ApartmentRatings.com can rate their rental experience on a number of specific factors including noise, safety and maintenance, as well as leave comments about their own experience living in the buildings.
