Check out the small bathroom design ideas below, and learn how you can turn your small space into something larger in perspective!

Features That Stand Out

By adding a mirror, you are actually doubling your space in view. A mirror reflects everything from light to objects, and it will give your bathroom a larger appearance.

A skylight will brighten up the area and make it seem bigger. Natural sunlight does wonders for rooms. Unlike artificial light, natural light is softer and more subtle.

You can also add a larger object such as a painting, cabinets, or shelves to act as a focal piece. Do not be afraid to add large items in a small bathroom; many smaller scale items make a bathroom seem overcrowded and cluttered.

Be Bold

The best thing to do when you are dealing with a small bathroom design dilemma is to go bold. You can use bold colors and items that will make a statement. Be careful of using dark colors in a small space, as it will make the space seem more enclosed. Go bold with light or bright colors.

Be consistent with your theme to add a cohesive feel to the bathroom. The more disconnected the design is, the smaller the bathroom will begin to feel. A shower curtain can often times be a great focal piece. It can either be the first thing someone sees or the last, depending on how you dress it up.

Use a Pedestal Sink

These sinks are specifically designed for small spaces. With pedestal sinks, you do not have to worry about large cabinets underneath. They fit conveniently in many areas.

Use Glass

Using glass, and other see through materials such as some non-colored plastics, allows light to come through and makes the space feel bigger than it is. Privacy is still maintained because most materials are made to distort or provide coverage.

Use Wall Space

Building up is a great way to store items such as towels, soaps, and more. Utilizing hooks to hold robes and other linens is also another great option. You can even place them behind the door to conceal their appearance and keep them out of the way.

Small bathroom design should be treated as an opportunity to be creative, not as a dreaded task. The more you have fun with it, the better the outcome will be!
