How to Throw a Bachelorette Party in Your Apartment

Staff Writer · Jun 25, 2010

Of all the types of parties that one can throw, a bachelorette party is probably one of the most memorable and fun ones. It’s a party that allows people to get a bit more wild than they usually allow themselves to be, and it marks the end of an era for the bachelorette in your midst. Throwing the party at an apartment has lots of advantages, but here are some things that you want to take into consideration while party planning.

Spacial Considerations

When it comes to throwing a bachelor party in your apartment, limited space is often the first thing that comes to mind. Yet, your apartment can be as inviting and fun to party in as any mansion. Free up come space by making sure that couches are other types of furniture are pushed against the wall. Even if you have to do some temporary re-decorating, it’s worth it.

If you plan on having dancing and other hi-jinks at the party, place the valuables and breakable objects in a back bedroom. Bring in chairs so that there’s enough seating room for everyone; ask around for folding chairs from friends, or simply rent a few from a party rental company. This makes sure that mingling is comfortable for all.

Being a Good Neighbor

As every apartment dweller knows, it’s important to be a considerate neighbor. When it comes to a bachelorette party, though, there’s a likelihood that things will get a bit noisy. Make sure to throw it on a Friday or Saturday night. Start early for the party if you can, then move it outside the apartment if it runs late into the night.

Let your neighbors know ahead of time that you are throwing just such a party, and let them know that you’ll try to keep it down. Letting them know that the bachelorette party in your apartment won’t be a regular thing can keep them from calling the cops or complaining to the landlord if it gets a bit rowdy.

Decorating

Go all out when it comes to preparing your place for the bachelorette party for your apartment. Go with a theme and then let your imagination go wild. You could do a mocking “Last Night on Parole” theme that has jailhouse theme, or you could even do something like a nifty fifties theme that exaggerates her future role as a wife in comparing it to the role of a wife in yesteryear.

Go with the personality of the bachelorette. If she likes things to be a bit crazy, go to the extreme. If she just wants to chill with her girlfriends, go with something low key. Let the decorations reflect that theme and bring a lot of them. When it’s over, you can give key pieces to the bachelorette to remember this fun night.

What to Serve

Look up martinis and libations that go with the theme of the night, but make them centered around the preferences of the bachelorette. Also, make sure to have plenty of tasty drinks for those who don’t drink alcohol. Serve finger foods, but make it fun. The delicate foods will be enjoyed at the wedding. A bachelorette party is a time for indulging, even in junk food. Catering to the preferences of the bachelorette, while addressing any issues with the limited apartment space far in advance, will make sure that the bachelorette party in your apartment is one to remember.
