Convert Your Studio into a Bachelor Pad with less than $500

Interior design ideas for your bachelor pad don’t have to be intimidating. You can take simple steps to convert your studio into a bachelor pad with less than $500. Here’s how.

Under the Bed Storage

To control clutter, you’ll need lots of storage space. You can get cheap storage containers or get storage drawers that fit right under your bed. You don’t want to draw attention to all the containers you have, so make sure some can fit under your bed if you can’t find drawers. You can store everything from underwear and your other clothes, to tools and toiletries. Check your dollar store, yard sales and moving sales for great deals on these.

Home Gym

You might think that this category alone would make decorating for less $500 impossible. A bachelor pad should have a home gym, and you can create one at affordable prices if you limit the equipment and shop around. The basics of your home gym should consist of free weights and a treadmill or exercise bike. When you go to garage sales, you can find a treadmill or exercise bike for under $50. You’ll find ones for $50 to $200 on www.craigslist.com. People are moving and don’t want to pack bulky exercise equipment. You gain used equipment in good condition, while helping them with their move. Keep in mind the noise any equipment makes, because you don’t want to disturb any nearby tenants.

Fireplace

If you’ve got a fireplace in your studio apartment, paint your living room walls and space around the fireplace a rustic color. The matching fireplace with your walls will add a nice touch to your bachelor pad. You could also put artwork above the fireplace. Make sure you ask your ask your landlord about painting and wall hangings so that you don’t lose some of your security deposit over it.

Book Cases

You may not be able to do much with shelves because you don’t own your apartment, but you can buy book cases. A bachelor pad with lots of books spells maturity and can benefit you in many ways if you stock them with good books to read. Dark-colored, brown bookcases work well for a bachelor pad, and arranging them from the shortest to highest one would work well in your studio apartment. Don’t get carried away though, because too many book cases will make an already small space look cluttered. Four or five book cases side-by-side or placed in the corners (if you have enough space) should be enough.

Framed Pictures

Your bachelor pad should be a reflection of who you are and your unique life. Give others a snapshot of who you are by putting pictures of friends and family on the walls. You can invest in wooden or black photograph frames in various sizes, although you may have to enlarge some photos to fit the frames. If you can’t hang pictures up because of your lease agreement, display them on your mantle or end tables.

Keeping it simple with only the basics is key to converting your studio into a bachelor pad that you’ll enjoy living in. You may need to convert it over time, but you can stay well below $500 using these decorating ideas.
