If you are living in a small apartment, with limited storage space, then you are probably wondering how you will have room for bicycle storage. But just because you live in a small space doesn’t mean that you can’t make room for the things that are most important to you. Try utilizing some of these storage options when considering where to store your bicycle.
On Your Patio
Even a small patio can be made into a veritable storage space without looking cluttered. The key is square footage management, or basically using all of the space available to you in the best way possible.
If you don’t actually have an indoor storage shed attached to your patio, then your only option for outdoor storage is to leave it on your patio. The only problem with this is that the sun can cause the paint to fade and the rain and snow can cause the metal to rust.
In order to avoid this, try buying a small tarp to cover your bicycle. The tarp itself should cost no more than $20 and you can use bungee cords to hold the tarp in place. This way, you can keep your bicycle protected from the elements and still store it on your patio.
If you happen to have a spare bedroom in your apartment, it would be the most ideal place to store your bicycle. While you may be using the spare bedroom for the storage of other items or possibly even as an office, all you really need is about four feet of wall space for your bicycle.
Try rearranging some of the boxes or your desk to make room for your bicycle. It may not be your most ideal way to store your bicycle, but at least your spare bedroom can keep it out of the way, out of sight to visitors and keep it protected from the outside elements.
In Your Closet
If you are crammed for space, your closet may be filled to its maximum without the addition of your bicycle. But if you have no other choice for storage options, such as a patio or spare bedroom, you may be locked into making room in your closet.
It’s okay, though. All you need to do is a little spring cleaning and rearrange the set-up of your closet and you should be able to make room for your bicycle. Try moving all of the boxes or storage bins that you have and put them on the upper shelf of your closet. Then, take any loose clothes and separate them between your dresser and what you want to hang up in your closet.
If you can make room throughout your house for the excess stuff in your closet, then you should have a sufficient amount of space to store your bicycle in your closet.
