5 Benefits of a Microfiber Couch

Staff Writer · Jan 18, 2011

A microfiber couch is one of the most comfortable couches you can buy for your apartment. The tiny fibers that make up the couch offers many benefits that makes it more desirable than traditional couches. You may prefer it to a leather couch as well. Here are some benefits to consider:

Benefit 1 – Stain Resistant

Removing stains from a non-microfiber couch can be a hassle, and in many cases, you may not be able to remove the stain. A microfiber couch is stain resistant. It also repels water. With basic spot cleaning, you can remove any spills, but even the ones you miss won’t develop into stains. You should still clean it as soon as you notice dirt.

Benefit 2 – Durability

These couches are designed to last a long time. You won’t have to worry about rips and tears that happen easily with other couches.  They require little maintenance as well, and as a result they are more durable than other couches. It’s an important consideration to keep in mind as you shop around for couches. You don’t want to pay for something that will get ruined by the time your lease is up.

Benefit 3 – Dust Free

Unlike other couches, a microfiber couch does not collect dust. That’s a big deal if you’re an allergy sufferer. Sitting in a couch that collects dust in between vacuuming can make your life miserable if you’re allergic to dust or lint. The microfiber technology makes it impossible to collect lint or dust particles. The fibers in other couches are not fine, which makes it easy to collect both lint and dust. You won’t have to worry about that with microfiber couches.

Benefit 4 – Cheaper than Leather

Furniture is often the most expensive item you have to buy for your apartment. You may love the look and feel of leather, but it may not fit your budget. Consider buying a microfiber couch if you want something that looks like leather, but doesn’t cost as much. There’s often a significant price difference between the two, and the other benefits of microfiber couches may make it a better buy in the end. For example, leather couches are not stain resistant whereas microfiber couches are.

Benefit 5 – Easy to Clean

You don’t have to use a steam cleaner or carpet shampooer to clean a microfiber couch. These are often the methods used to clean some non-microfiber couches. All you need is a cloth, water and mild soap for most couches. Some manufacturers may recommend a specific cleaning solution, but cleaning is still as simple as applying the solution to the area and cleaning it with a cloth. After you spot clean any dirt or spills, wait for the area to dry.

If you want a couch with bright colors then consider a microfiber couch. You may not be able to find the same color options in other couches.
