What to Look for in Short Term Furnished Apartments

Staff Writer · Aug 9, 2009

The number one factor that moves people to rent short-term furnished apartments is saving money. A furnished apartment, besides having some of the facilities of a hotel suite, costs less than the latter. It will also usually come with its own functional kitchen, so you can cook your meals yourself, which is usually not possible in hotel accommodation. This is another money-saving advantage on top of its cheaper rent. The benefit becomes evident if you have a family with kids.

Short-term rentals include private dwelling houses, family-owned apartments, corporate apartments, walk-up apartments and luxury apartments. Generally, they charge less than hotels of the same class.

What Tenants Seek in Short-Term Furnished Apartments

Convenience and comfort are the other factors that make up for a nice short-term apartment. The factor of convenience comprises facilities like close proximity to public transport, shopping, banks, entertainment, etc. That of comfort consists of features and amenities found in the apartment and the neighborhood, such as safety and security, utilities, four or five appliances provided, in-suite or on-site laundry, on-site gym, good service etc. Even an apartment has both factors, the quantity and quality of convenience and comfort components determine whether an apartment ranks as just a nice apartment or a medium-class, upscale or luxury apartment.

Depending on the purpose of the visit of a short-term furnished apartment tenant, the factor of convenience and the factor of comfort may change place in level of importance. If you are on a leisure visit, you may not care so much about the convenience of the apartment being close to public transport, as you have time to spend. In fact, you may enjoy the unfamiliar scenery while walking on foot. On the other hand, if you are a busy corporate visitor, you will value the fact that your apartment can offer ease in public transportation, enabling you to dispose off your work assignments with dispatch. Convenience and comfort are inter-related.
