This is for #2969
Here's an idea: Buy a small bookshelf ..if money is tight, try resale stores, garage sales etc. Use a pretty curtain panel to cover. Works great!

I built a pantry out of a broom closet, using 1x2s and particle board. I decided where I wanted the shelves, screwed the 1x2s to the wall through the studs (wider side to the wall, leaving the shorter side as a lip to support the shelves), and painted the entire inside. Then I cut the particle board to fit the inside of the closet and painted that. When it dried I covered the surface of the shelves with clear contact paper for smooth, easy to clean surface. I put the shelves on the 1x2s, and voila! Last, I put a wire basket drawer unit on the floor for small items - although you could easily just leave the floor as is for storage of items than can sit on the floor. A pantry, for about 4 hours work and the cost of supplies. The nice thing about doing it myself was I was able to cut everything to fit - except for the wire drawer unit (which determined the height of the bottom shelf), nothing was premade, so sizes didn't matter.

Short on cash but you or someone you know has access to the big box retailers like Sam's Club? Check out the wine section for wooden crates, and take these home instead of a cardboard box. Drill holes near the corners of the bottom of the crate, but leave enough space for your hand and any power tool when you drill in the screws to mount this to the wall as a shelf.

Alternately, check out the wine stores in the area for any crates like these and ask how you can get them for free.

One idea is if you are handy with a hammer and nails or know some one who is you could do like I did.... I had a 8 inch space beside my refridge so I built a 3 foot box with 4 shelves in it. I placed the box on wheels and painted it to match my kitchen. I now have a rolling pantry that is out of the way and doesn't take up needed space.

I have a small pantry that is only 15 inches wide. I am looking for an over the door rack that will fit that smaller size. Most are 18 inches wide. Where can I find a smaller one but is at least 5-6 shelves long.
