Don't rent from COSTANZA ENTERPRISES in Rochester, NY. I live in the "newly restored" historical building - Station-55. There are so many hazardous things:
A set of public poured concrete stairs to the building that have the form wood under each step and there are two wood screws sticking straight out - points out - one each step. Anyone with sandals would pike their toe with a rusty screw. There are children who live here. I have reported this multiple times and have physically walked two high level management to it to show them and nothing has been done in over five months.
There are beams literally falling from the second floor into the main lobby area of the first floor. Three have fallen so far with no attempt to secure the remaining two. They are not attached properly - they were edging boards on a balcony on a concrete second floor that were not fastened in any way other than wood glue or some kind of adhesive that did not stick to the concrete.
My apartment has a water leak that happens when it rains and the water comes through the bathroom fan housing (this is new as of two weeks ago). I have a double blade fan which has one blade that is tilted and hits the crossbar therefore I can not use it. I have asked for this simple fix numerous times and have gotten no response.
I will not even go into the stone falling from the facade in the front of the building and the cracks in the two inch poured concrete floor ON THE SECOND FLOOR OF THIS 100 YEAR OLD BUILDING AND IT WAS DONE WITH *NO REBAR*!!!! This floor is less than a year old and there are cracks that go through the whole building and are literally growing by the month. They are currently between a sixteenth and an eighth inch and growing. The contractor told me specifically that there was no reinforcement used and that the excuse to the tenants would be that they wanted "spider cracks" for visual effect.
Oh, and when the wind blows drywall dust blows out from under the walls where they meet the floor and gives a white coating for a foot from every wall (the apartments were framed in using aluminum and drywall inside the large brick building).
They made me give a three month security deposit because my credit score is low even though I have a good paying job and glowing references from every landlord I have had in the last five years. After treating me like dirt they are not responding to anyone's complaints.
A fire alarm went off on Sunday and the doors to the residential areas went to fail-secure and the firemen could not get in. There was no way for them to see which apartment had prompted the alarm. The security system here has never been right and the fire system is not either. After the fire alarm many of the smoke alarms are not functioning. There has been no contact from the landlords.
These are corrupt people with no regard for the tenants. They own other properties like the Temple Building in Rochester, NY and a few others. Stay far away from them.
I am starting the process of legal complaint but I am not sure how to start. If anyone has any suggestions of where to legally complain and have something done, I would appreciate it. There are multiple concerns that I have not even mentioned.
