For a quick fix, I like to use incense sticks. The room will smell great while burning but it does tend to neutralize after it stops. At least the unpleasantness is gone.I recommend Nag Champa for a nice earthy scent.
But sometimes incense sticks tend to smell artifical. Another thing I like to use is raw resin. (ex. frankincense, myrrh, etc.) Burn it on charcoal or on a skillet.
