I'd recommend investing in a little bit of pepper spray. There are places where you can buy some. And some even offer convenient little cans attached to a key ring. I recently bought one off Amazon.com, and now I have a little defensive measure with me at all times whenever I have my keys with me. A word of warning though. I found out that some States have regulations on the books regarding the precise kind and amount of pepper spray a person is allowed to have. Before purchasing some, it would be wise to go online, to a library, or wherever to find out what your State's pepper spray laws are all about.
