plants are inexpensive and add colour and brightness.
Use decorative pillows and coloured accents and blankets on sofas or loveseats.
Candles, vases and baskets of differnt shapes and sizes work wonders also.

Hang pictures and mirrors to give the room colour and making the room seem bigger and or brighter.
