Boiling water kills the adult roaches instantly; I just toss a cupful under the stove, next to the pantry,etc. when I see one, then sweep out the water with a dead roach. This is way quicker than a lot of pesticides, completely non-toxic, and so far my roaches haven't developed any resistance to being boiled alive.

They started renovations downstairs, and suddenly my spotless apartment has visitors- here's hoping this method nips the problem in the bud.
