Your story is almost the same as mine. I live in a house with my parents and my grandma. THEY ARE MESSY AND SO IS OUR ENTIRE HOUSE! They're all packrats and unorganized. They're also messy eaters and drop the food on the floor and carpet. They're incapable of cleaning up and getting rid of junk that they don't need anymore. My dad and grandma are lazy. My mom works a lot and has long hours, so she's never home. I'd try to clean the house myself, except for the majority of the crap in our house belong to my parents, and I don't know which stuff they still need. I also go to school and when I'm home, I have to do my homework and take care of my dog. School's out now and I'm trying to clean and organize the house, but it seems that no matter what I do, it's useless. I'm normally afraid of bugs, but I'm also a germaphobe and a perfectionist, so just imagine how traumatizing this is for me. It boosts up the fear.
I've only spotted them downstairs, and they haven't made their way upstairs... until now. About an hour ago, I just spotted the first cockroach upstairs IN MY ROOM. I tried killing it with a slipper, but it fell off the wall and went behind by desk, so now I'm terrified that it'll start laying eggs. Hopefully, the cockroaches won't take over my room or else I won't be able to sleep at night.
I never invite my friends over due to the fear of them seeing our messy house or the cockroaches, and then scaring them off. This problem is also affecting me emotionally. I have become paranoid, and I'm always looking for them. I've asked my mom if we can call the professionals, but she doesn't want them coming into the house because she doesn't want them to see our mess. I pretty much want to move, but who would want to buy a house that's infested with cockroaches?
