hi i went through something similar in boston, it was in the kitchen,whenever it rained it would cause huge flooding problems because the brown water would eventually get past the cheap spackling they did and break through, finally it was so bad the sloppy patchwork they did came down completely making a huge hole, we could see out side! we took a lot of pictures and went to the apartment leasing office and threatened to sue. they eventually had to fix it properly since it was causing freezing air to come in making it an innadequate living place. my advice is do the same or if the mold is taing over as it probably will you can break your lease because it can make you sick, but definitely go above the landlord to her supervisor and so on.
