My apartment flooded due to a bad fixture on a toilet. My entire downstairs (there is one room upstairs, 2 bedrooms downstairs) carpet has to be replaced along with any parts of the walls that were damaged.
This is in Los Angeles county.
Right now, my upstairs is completely filled with stuff from downstairs, so it's not really livable there. The carpet is torn up and shortly will have dry wall holes and dust, etc. My furniture and everything else is all over the place and it will take 2-3 weeks for all repairs to be finished.
Am I able to pro-rate my rent for the days my apartment is not in it's 'normal' state? I've had to stay with friends since this happened.
