I live in Oregon and am very upset about my apartment situation. The day that I moved in, the apartment was filthy.Food was still in the fridge, the bathroom was disgusting, the fireplace was full of ash, etc. The washing machine was missing ( I got it after 2 days), and I had no mail key. The manager finally called me back 5 days later, and offered to have a cleaner come in. By that time, I obviously had already cleaned. She said that I would still be responsible for hiring someone to clean when I moved out and her hands were tied. I also did not get my mail key for 12 days after calling and checking several times and I had to put a hold on my mail. Several months later, I noticed that my shower was growing mold. I cleaned it, and noticed that the paint began to droop on the ceiling. I lightly pushed on it and my thumb went right through. I called and expressed my concern and explained the situation. They said that it was the shower in the upstairs tenants apartment and they would fix that and the damage to my ceiling. Their idea of fixing my ceiling it was to Spackle the hole. That was 3 days ago and the Spackle is drooping and molding. Brown liquid is also seeping through the wall. What should I do? Do I have any legal rights?
