just because it's illegal to discriminate against housing subsidy recipients doesn't mean it doesn't happen... expect discrimination to be the rule rather than the exception (especially if you are Black or brown) and GO PREPARED. it's not too extreme to tape conversations with prospective landlords! take it from me --- i've had landlords who asked me what the cap for my subsidy was, and then raised their rental price RIGHT THEN AND THERE,while i was standing in front of them!
